Scotch pine - Pinus sylvestris (25 per pkt.) 3-yr seedlings (14”-18”) Hardy, short needle, blue-green. Good for timber, ornamental. Adapts to a variety of soil types. $25 White Spruce - Picea glauca (25 per pkt.) 3-yr seedlings (8”-14”) Thrives in well drained or moist soil. Extremely hardy and slowly grows to 50 ft. Stiff needles are light bluish-green usually less than 1” in length. $25 Arborvitae - Thuja occidentalis (25 per pkt.) 2-1yr seedlings (4”-6”) aka American Arborvitae. Growth: slow, maturity of 80 feet. Great for hedges and wildlife habitat, adapts to a variety of soils. $65
Fraser Fir - Abies fraseri (5 per pkt.) Does well in cool areas with rich well drained soil. Common in Christmas tree farms, rare in nature, this pyramidal conifer definitely doesn’t like poorly drained soil. Red Maple - Acer rubrum (5 per pkt.) 3 yr (15-30”) Adaptable, but prefers moist or wet acidic soils. Medium to fast growth, gets to 50-70 ft tall, spread of 30-40 ft.
